International Women’s Group Visit The Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy

16December 2018: On the morning of December12, 2018, members of the International Women’s Group which consists of Ambassador’s wives and VIP women, where greeted by Dr. Ziad Rajab and Mr. Abbas Dashti at the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy.

Unveiled in 1980, the original Museum was a private art collection and now the Tareq Rajab Museum contains a collection of over thirty thousand items collected by this dynamic couple over the last fifty years, 10 thousand of which are now on permanent display. After which, the museum has been extended by adding two new buildings (Dar Al-Cid and Dar Jehan also called the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy) to the museum in Jabriya, the area where the first museum was opened. The latter is where the IWG prominent women visited and were marveled by the artistic history it represented.

This Museum of Islamic Calligraphy is one of the most beautiful buildings in Kuwait and it aims to trace and educate visitors about the growth of the Arabic Script through time, with the scripts on display dating back from the 6th century up to the present day. The magnificent tour was very enticing to all the ladies there, and the generous explanations by the gentlemen were very thorough and kept members of the IWG all ears!

The visit was yet another successful excursion organized by members of the IWG Board; one that they will go home to tell all their loved ones about.
