On 20th November 2018, the International Women’s Group (IWG Kuwait), became the first female group to walk on the new Sheikh Jaber Bridge, the 4th longest sea bridge in the world (at 36km).

The IWG group was welcomed at the VIP lounge by the project director, engineer Mai Ibrahim Al Messad, before taken on the tour where they visited the museum dedicated to the causeway.
At the museum the group was given a very informative presentation that gave them insight on how the bridge was being built, the different levels and the measures taken to protect the environment during construction.
A group photo was taken at the center of the bridge next to the sail, capturing a once in a lifetime moment for all members as this cannot be repeated once the bridge is officially opened.

The IWG group is very thankful to all the dedicated and talented engineers on this project, but especially to engineer Mai Ibrahim Al Messad and to engineer Suha Jasim Ashkanani, the general manager of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART).
